If a rather inexpensive tablet is in your future, head on over to Woot and check out the ViewSonic gTablet. Offered for just $279.99 plus $5 for shipping, the tablet runs Android 2.2 on a 1GHz Tegra 2 Dual Core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU. Around the net, the tablet has a selling price of $369 at a minimum.
The gTablet has a lot going for it on paper: fast processor, 1.3mp video conferencing camera, 1080p video playback. The unit received a 3-star rating from CNET editors but achieved a 4-star rating from users. So far, it’s looking like a heck of a deal.
There is one interesting development in the products life: Staples. The company pulled the tablet from shelves and returned all product to the manufacturer citing, “manufacturing defects.” So it’s not all roses.
