Logitech is known best for their outstanding performance computer mice as well as innovative concepts such as a solar-powered wireless keyboard. Their computer-centric speaker products are quite good, too, and today, we look at the newer Z623 2.1 speaker system.

Build and design
Logitech has developed what might be called a “Logitech Look” over the years with regards to a number of its products, and the Z623 is no exception. That’s not any kind of dig at the build of the product, mind you; in fact, it means that Logitech has a sense of surety behind their design philosophy. Rather, it means you can trace the evolution of their speakers back over the last few product revisions and see the roots of current products in the models of the past (the Z623 manage to feel a lot like an older 5.1 Logitech system I used to have).
Since this is a 2.1 speaker system, Logitech includes left and right stereo speakers as well as a subwoofer in the box. Previous systems often included some kind of breakout box on an additional cable; this breakout box offered a physical volume dial, power button and headphone jack; these controls are integrated into the right speaker of the Z623 system along with a balance (for moving between left and right speakers) dial. The dials are easy to turn, with just enough resistance to prevent moving them too far in either direction.
