Along with the new notebooks introduced today, HP also took the wraps off of a new business-oriented ultrathin display – known as the HP Elite L2201x, the 22-inch, super thin monitor measures just 0.4 inches thick.

The new Elite L2201x has a 21.5-inch panel with an LED backlighting system; the LED backlight is one of the principal reasons HP was able to make the monitor so thin. Unlike a traditional display, with a big, chunky stand, the new L2201x is designed to work well for both desktop and notebook users – anyone who needs to add an additional monitor to their workflow.
The stand and borders of the L2201x are covered in a platinum, brushed metal finish. Similar to offerings by other manufacturers, the new Elite monitor uses an external power supply to keep things svelte. What sets it apart from these other offerings, though, is its interconnect; HP chose to go with a single DisplayPort output in order to keep things easy and simple.
The monitor’s panel is backed with a Full HD 1920×1080 resolution, with defined black/white separtion covered by a 5,000:1 contrast ratio. HP is planning to market the new display for $249, and expects it to be generally available in the U.S. by June 1st.
